Training leading to a Bachelor of Arts (BA)
Prerequisites A-levels or subject-restricted higher education entrance qualification with eligibility to study Economics.
Tasks Extensive business management knowledge combined with well-grounded practical experience will help you to organise warehousing systems and transport operations as well as with the planning of customer-specific logistics supply chains and outsourcing projects. Besides well-founded customer consulting about cost-effective and alternative shipping methods, mediating and implementing the transportation of good with all types of carriers will also form part of your tasks; it is possible to specialise here. Studying and on-the-job training form the basis for assuming managerial functions within the company.
Content of the Training The dual course allows for a quarterly change between working in the company and studying at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Lörrach. The foundation course at the university covers business management and economics, and is supplemented with aspects of transport politics and knowledge in the field of the planning and implementation of customer-specific tasks, The main degree focuses on specific topics from these fields and gives the student the opportunity to acquire a foundation in modern management and forward-looking logistical know how. In addition, the last two semesters see the student write their term paper and diploma thesis. Meanwhile, the practical parts of the course give you a direct insight into the world of transportation and allow you to play an active role in the company. Your roles in the various transport and administration sectors of the business will give you extensive experience in dealing with the tasks that arise as part of logistics management. Examination after 3 years at the Baden-Wuerttemberg Cooperative State University in Lörrach (state-approved qualification).


Training to become a Forwarding Merchant and Logistics Service Provider
Prerequisites Certificate of Secondary School Education + 2 years of commercial college or German Secondary Modern School Certificate + BK1 or BK2 or A-levels.
Tasks As an "architect of transportation" you will organise the transportation of goods via freight vehicle, train, inland vessel, seagoing vessels and plane. In addition, you will ensure that almost all types of products, in this case furniture and personal effects, as well as particularly fragile and expensive other products, are correctly warehoused. As a Forwarding Merchant and Logistics Service Provider you will use your expert knowledge to advise your customers about the most cost-effective shipping method. You will work independently to mediate freight transactions and arrange their implementation over land, sea or by air. In the warehousing sector you will organise a smooth flow of goods and will be responsible for inventory management.

The market in which you move is dominated by rapidly changing requirements. Your creativity and flexibility will help you to actively accompany this change to and work together with your clients to develop successful solutions.
Content of the Training During the training you will acquire a well-grounded specialised knowledge, including about various means of transportation, and about the applicable warehousing, customs, transport and liability regulations. During the 3-year period, you will spend time in many of the interesting departments of an internationally active forwarding company, and can, as such, acquire real expertise directly on location. Your professional expertise will be broadened with classes at college. The broad spectrum of the tasks that you will be involved in means that once you have finished your training you can choose to specialise in the area in which you are most interested.
Final examination by the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce (state-recognised qualification).


Training to become a Specialist in Warehouse Logistics
Prerequisites Certificate of Secondary Education + 2 years of commercial college or German Secondary Modern School Certificate
Tasks As a specialist in warehouse logistics you will move a lot. You will work in a modern transport terminal and will accept and unpack goods, and ensure that they are stored correctly in a way that they maintain their quality. In addition, you will compile deliveries, pack them and ensure that they are safely loaded. You will operate modern goods handling equipment such as high rack stackers, and will be supported by modern, scanner-based goods control systems in your work.
Content of the Training The training will give you specialist knowledge in the fields of goods flow, packaging technology, shipping regulations, types of shipping and supply conditions. In addition, you will learn about the procedures involved in dealing with delivery complaints, as well as the latest measures to limit accidents and protect the environment. As a prospective specialist in warehouse logistics you will be directly involved in preexisting work processes and as such will acquire an extensive practical knowledge. You will be taught the theoretical basics at college. Final examination after 3 years by the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce (state-recognised qualification).
